SHMW002: Shyft – OX<– – This is the companion album to [Feind], and a concept album that expresses Shyft’s escape from nihilism, hatred, and revenge. Contrasting the dark, harsh, and absolutely evil atmosphere of [Feind], here there is brightness, color, hope, and joy. Aggression and darkness are not entirely lost here, as there’s still a long fight to be had following the vanquishing of one’s inner (or escaped) demons, but it’s a unifying cause that remains, an uncertain but shared road toward utopia.
Both albums are loaded with body music, but where [Feind] is fight music, here we have dance music. The psychological thrillers return, but it’s their more whimsical moments, and they are accompanied by clips sampled from more light-hearted inspirations.
